What parents have said:

"My 16-year-old daughter did intensive sessions with Owl Education Group during Spring break and early summer of 2017. At first, my daughter was wary about spending 3 hours a day in "tutoring" during what should be her off time. To her surprise, it was as much fun as it was work. She would excitedly share things she learned on the way home and gushed about her tutor (and she is definitely not the gushing kind!). We drove from Aurora daily and it was so worth the trip for everything my daughter gained. Thanks to Owl Education for providing an intensive, affordable (we shopped around!) and thorough program. My daughter went from D's to B's in Language Arts classes and best of all, she feels good about herself in class. I highly recommend Owl to anyone considering making an investment in your child's education.” -- Moya S.

Services

Academic Tutoring (Reading, Writing, Math)

Individual tutoring includes a brief assessment to gather a baseline from which to measure progress followed by the development of individualized objectives for reading, spelling, written expression or math, from which your student’s program is designed. Our unique program merges a variety of published research based, multi-sensory and systematic methodologies and our data-driven instructional strategies to meet a variety of needs and learning obstacles.

Metacognition Coaching (Executive Functioning)

Research and experience (personal and professional) have taught us that services designed around buzz words (e.g. executive functioning) and strategies to manage organization and time don’t stick. As with all of our programs, we have refined our coaching program to meet the actual needs of students and address the underlying components for growth and success. We work with students to set individual goals and build their metacognition in order to monitor outcomes, expand mindsets, develop critical thinking, and expand problem solving in order to address learning challenges and life obstacles for years to come. By allowing students to design their own strategies and approaches for meeting personal expectations for school success or areas of interest through targeted coaching, we lay pathways that allow students to engage their goal directed behaviors now and in the future. Programming is designed based on a student’s current level of self awareness, school success and mindset.

Academic Enrichment

Students are offered the opportunity to work with a master mathematician or a professional writer in an area where they wish to dig deeper than the instructional opportunities provided in their neighborhood school. This service is appropriate for students who have conceptual math skills in place and want further instruction, as well as those who have solid math skills, but are bored and unchallenged by current math curriculum. Enrichment is also appropriate for students who have a command of written language and wish to further develop their composition skills. Sessions are limited and are scheduled once or twice per week for 60 - 120 minutes.

Homework Support

Our Learning Center is open to elementary through high school students. Students are supported with development of a homework or study plan, pacing, and academic assistance as needed and according to their developmental level (i.e. elementary school students are provided a greater degree of direction than middle and high school students). Students in the learning center are expected to be self-directed as appropriate to their age and grade and should not require 1:1 tutoring to complete their assignments. Students may sign up for one to three hour slots. The Learning Center is open Monday through Thursday and on Sunday afternoons.
